Font Licensing

When you purchase a font, you are purchasing a license to the use of the font. The End User License Agreement (EULA) lists permitted uses, restrictions and all terms and conditions for using the fonts. You can purchase a license for Print & Social Media and/or Web use, depending on your requirements.

No, The fonts are licensed to specific individuals/organizations and can’t be shared outside your organization. If your client needs to use the fonts on their own computers, they will need to obtain their own license.

Your client — the organization commissioning the work, not the designer or agency creating it. As a designer, you only need to own a print/ social media license if you’re creating work for yourself to share as a portfolio on the internet.

Any person using a Type Colony typeface must own an appropriate license. Thus the Designer must purchase a license adapted to their needs (Print, Web, App, etc.) and the final client must also purchase the necessary licenses if they are in a position which requires them to use typefaces which are installed on their computer network, or on one or a number of their workstations/ devices.

Yes, you can. However, it's essential to ensure that you obtain the necessary license once you decide to use the font in the final project to comply with licensing terms.

Delivery of the font via ‘packages’ in InDesign or Illustrator to printers or suppliers is permitted. But they cannot modify any fonts, or use the fonts on anything else.

Freelancers working on a project need to be covered by the print/ social media license.

No. You can however download a Trial version of each typeface that will enable you to create mock ups. These mock ups can then be published online and on social networks under the strict condition that the typeface or typefaces used are clearly mentioned.

Yes, for the purpose of the creation of your website. But your developer ensure to not use the font for any other websites/ projects.

A license is perpetual in nature for its owner, and thus valid for as long as the owner wishes to use it. It is important to remember that a license cannot be transferred or passed on to a third party.

We no longer provide it as it didn't align with our licensing model. Instead, we've introduced a trial version and/or a print & social media license, offering more extensive rights compared to standard desktop licenses.
